I switched to Erie Insurance (a regional company) about 5 years ago. They are a highly reputable company with excellent claim service reputation. I saved hundreds of dollars when I switched from Progressive to Erie with better coverage.
Flo's commercials cost money...
You don't see Erie plastering commercials with nonsense ads.

I agree that Erie is a good company. If you are going to leave Hartford, leaving it for Erie is a good choice.
Those Progressive commercials are some of the worst I've ever seen. Not sure what the ad agency is trying to do.
I only remember one good one. Its the one where Flo is riding a motorcycle and everything she says is being misunderstood by another rider who can't hear her over engine noise.
When we moved to Paradise, CA in 2015, finding homeowners insurance was extremely difficult until The Hartford accepted us, car and home. We only had 1 small auto claim with Mercury in the 30 years previously.
Then came the fire in November 2018 and 90% of our town burned to the ground. We were living in a motel in Red Bluff and we had no idea if our home survived or not. A Hartford rep. tracked us down and called on my cell asking if we need any living expenses in advance. Our home survived, with minor damage. Once we were able to return several Hartford adjusters came out and they treated us like family. We had checks deposited to our Wells Fargo account before we made a single request.
Truth to be told they paid us more than the damages were worth. Your mileage might vary, but we are super grateful to The Hartford.
We had Hartford for a couple of years (using AARP) for home and auto. We are both experienced drivers, with clean records and everyday vehicles. We found that the premiums kept going up.
We bailed on them and went with Erie Insurance using a local independent agent.
Much better coverage for less cost. Haven't looked back in 5 or 6 years.
I have Erie and haven't found any companies that can beat them.
Get a quote based on the same coverage you have with Geico. This year Geico gave everyone a 15% discount on their premium. I just bundled my home insurance and got another $50 off my auto insurance. With home insurance they use other companies and search for the lowest rates. They saved me about $360 on my annual homeowner's premium, with the same coverage.

Have paid-for car, with clean record. Am 54. I do realize that living in Orlando doesn't help me a whole lot.
Anyone join AARP and be able to reduce their car insurance costs? I"ve seen commercials of Hartford through AARP so I figured I'd ask.
We are long time AARP members but don't use their services very often. It is my understanding that they pushed to get retired people stimulus checks so I'm glad we have supported them. We do buy their cell phones, insurance products or other items but do like their articles.
