I had that happen once. My insurance was under State Farm. A police report was not needed. It was no big deal. It was covered upon collision, so I paid the deductible. My insurance rates did not go up.

Up to you if you want to incur that.
yeah, its probably not worth reporting.

That's not necessarily so. It depends upon your insurance company, your claims record, and how much it costs to repair the damage.

We had someone hit our car in the parking lot of a grocery store while we were shopping. Our insurance paid the full amount of damage with no deductible under our uninsured motorists coverage as a hit and run loss.

Not necessary to file a police report, though it helps.

I had a tree branch fall and hit my car while driving. I could not stop as it was a busy street with cars behind me. Did not notice the minor damage to my vehicle until after lunch (though I drive an exotic car so while the damage was minor the $13K repair invoice wasn’t). I went back to area where I believe the incident occurred, snapped a few pics of some fallen branches, called Geico and they paid the claim in full with no hesitation.

No they are covered under comprehensive. Uninsured covers medical.

California hit and run laws
Specifically, drivers can't use uninsured motorist insurance to pay for damage to their vehicle if they can't identify the other driver. There are, however, stiff legal penalties for the other driver if they're found. Those penalties depend on the amount of damage they caused.

Wrong Comp is for weather/animal damages. UMPD is Uninsured Motorist Property Damage (hit and run collision, someone who doesn't have enough coverage or no coverage at all for your vehicle). UM covers uninsured Medical.
