A good morning to everyone!
Today is my oldest grandaughters birthday so we will be heading over to their house to celebrate and take a gift. Not sure why exactly but the last few days I have felt anxious. More then normal.....Oh well I'm sure it will pass. Maybe getting out today will help??!! The weather is warm for the next few days so a good time for a ride! Hope everyone enjoys their week-end!

We had a "good" thing.....yet "disappointing" happen last week--my DH always enters those Marlboro contests--use to smoke years ago and still win little goodies in their contests and then we sell them on ebay. Well we got an Express signature required letter the other day from Marlboro--DH won a trip to the Marlboro Ranch in Montana for 2 all expenses paid plus spending money for 4 days and 3 nights--a $5,000 value. It is for July. Of course we cannot go...sigh...they have so many fun activities but it requires being healthy plus the elevation is pretty high from my understanding. It was fun to know he won but hurt cause we can't do it. Oh well, life goes on....it's non-transferable so we'll just have to tell them thank you but we can't accept.
I think that is probably part of my anxiety/sad feelings the last few days....Not just for me but DH said why couldn't he have won before he got ALS.....

Cyn......do you think if he explains that he can't go because of ALS....they might give him a "consolation prize"........that seems like it would be fair.....and probably in the spirit of the "Americans with Disabilities" law......I doubt they can make the ranch fully accessible and able to accommodate his special needs. I would ask; I am betting that they will offer an alternative prize.....or perhaps allow him to transfer it to a family member. (his son). (Especially since research is suggesting cigarette smoking may increase chances of getting ALS by about 40%.)

Most of the people in our ALS support group never smoked.
My wife never smoked ,also.

I question where that so called " research" is coming from.

Hi, all.

Cyn, hey, it can't hurt to ask any how, right? Congrats...you two were always winners in my book. Enjoy the party.

Dear Red Wolf.....I didn't mean to start a debate....I was really just interested in how cyn might be able to get an alternative prize for her dear husband from the Marlboro contest.

When I googled cigarette smoking and ALS it turns out that there is a lot of research on the subject. Cigarette smoking associated with increased risk of developing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis This is just one of many studies.
