Or they mix up the username and the pin and the password and teh answer to the secret question. It is a lot to remember. When you add in not knowing HOW it all works, it can be very frustrating.
I work with a lovely 70-something woman who needs my help at least twice a week with the sign-in/sign-out process on our work computers. We have two separate systems on our computers...one is pretty straightforward with regard to sign-in/sign-out, but the other system has several steps that are not intuitive to her.

Even though she has tons of notes about our computers (and this is part of the problem too), she often puts the password/user name from System #1 into System #2...or she'll forget that she has the caps lock key on...or she'll type the password in using lower case, when it's actually a combination of upper and lower. If she types the password in wrong three times, she gets locked out, and has to have the IT department issue her a new one.

She doesn't use a computer at home, and I know she gets embarrassed when she has to ask me for help...but I'm more than happy to lend assistance. Some day, someone might need to help ME!

Tell them to use the answer.

What is your dogs name? Fred
What was your first car? Fred
What school did you go too? Fred

I actually do this myself but instead it's a random string so someone hacking into my account can't simply guess their way in.

That's actually a good idea. I've been trying to make a list of all my security question answers in case anyone in my family needs to manage bills for me one day, but I am still afraid I'll miss one, and my credit card payment will be late because my brother didn't know what my "favorite book" is...this is a great idea!

I should note If you are using keepass you can add custom fields if you want to use the actual answer, it will be available from the right click context menu then so you can just copy it to the clipboard. There is also notes but you can't copy them with right click.

I should note that while having the same answer does enhance security in the case where someone knowing the answer will have difficulty you now have the same answer for every site which is not necessarily a good thing.

I know..I do this with some passwords, too. There's no way to remember them all! I really should do a password manager, I just need to make sure my brother would be able to access my account, from mine or his computer.

All the above is Greek to me, lol...I'm a MAC girl.
