A professional Santa said he almost hung up his suit for good after a heart-wrenching experience at a child's death bed.
Eric Schmitt-Matzen, 61, of Caryville, Tennessee, usually walks away from his gigs with a big smile and fulfilled heart. He's been making children smile as Father Christmas for 9 years now and seeing those happy faces is his favorite part of his job.

It is heartbreaking, and I can understand why this Santa would be so deeply affected by the child's death. But I hope that in time, he can come to find comfort, and solace in knowing that he made a child in the last few minutes of his life very happy.
It comes down to basic reporting, which means not relying on one source. You would think that after the Rolling Stone/UVA "rape" article and subsequent lawsuit, reporters would learn.
Even if the story is not true, it remains true that the death of a child is the most difficult kind of death to deal with. About three weeks ago I became aware of a fourth grade boy whom I know, nine years old, who is in the hospital awaiting a heart transplant, and he cannot leave the hospital until he gets one! Of course we are all hoping that death will NOT be the outcome in this case, but it has been tearing me up nonetheless.
Now it is all about ratings and clicks. I doubt anyone checks anything from the crazy stuff that is posted.
