Fully vaccinated, spayed, wormed, microchipped.

Dayton is participating, Omaha, Austin, not sure how many other cities.

Many what does it take to stop the exploding cat population?
Unfortunately all my solutions would probably not be too popular

Here in Minnesota, the animal humane society has this:

Animal Humane Society relaunches Double the Love

Animal Humane Society | Animal Humane Society relaunches Double the Love (http://www.animalhumanesociety.org/node/3491 - broken link)

Monday, March 1, 2010

Animal Humane Society’s (AHS) unprecedented Double the Love cat adoption program relaunches with hopes of placing even more cats in new homes. Prospective adopters can now adopt one cat or kitten at the regular adoption fee with the fee waived for the second cat.

In 2009, more than 350 adopters took part in the Double the Love program giving over 700 cats a new home during the 4-month long introductory program. By starting earlier and continuing the program indefinitely, Animal Humane Society hopes to essentially more than double the number of double the love cats going to their forever homes this year.

“We see this as an opportunity for the public and community to respond to the crisis of cat overpopulation. We ask if you are going to consider bringing one cat into your family, what it would mean for you to bring home two,” says Cindy Johnson, director of customer service at Animal Humane Society. AHS offers information at all five of its locations on how to successfully integrate two cats into a household.

The number of unwanted cats and kittens brought to Animal Humane Society is staggering. Nearly 20,000 cats a year come through Animal Humane Society doors. Double the Love is one way to help combat the overpopulation issue by getting more cats into homes. All cats and kittens are sterilized prior to adoption to further prevent unwanted litters.

Customers will have the first choice of a cat or kitten of any age with the second cat one year of age or older. Customers can choose two felines from any kennel or room in AHS Adoption Centers.

The Double the Love offer is available only at the time of adoption, and is not retroactive. Both cats must be adopted at the same time at the same location by the same person. No other discounts apply.
