Hey guys. I have a 13 week old kitten who is always getting into trouble. I'm worried he is going to break something that belongs to either me or my roommate, and I don't want to have to pay for anything.
Recently he's been jumping onto the window and using the wooden dividers on the panes as handle bars to climb onto. I'm worried that one day the window will break and he will escape. He also jumped on top of my roommates flat screen TV with his front paws, and was hanging from it for several seconds before I clapped my hands to get him off.
He starting to teeth and I'm nervous about what other problems he may get himself into. I have another 1.5 year old cat who I got when he was 5 months old. Other than that this is the first time I've lived with cats.
How do I get him to stop doing these things? When he jumped on the TV I knew that was not good at all and I was forced to put him in my closet as punishment for a couple of minutes.
He does have lots of toys. 3 scratching posts, two litter boxes, 2 food bowls, about 6 shiny balls that jingle, 2 luffa-type toys, along with whatever else he can get his hands on. I'm pretty liberal about what he's allowed to play with (the furniture, carpets, bottle caps, etc). The one thing I don't want him doing is knocking over the TV or breaking through windows though! So you think spraying him with a water bottle will help? I'll have to try that though he doesn't seem too affected by water (he always jumps into the tub after I shower and licks the water off, I know it's gross)

Please use a squirt bottle. I know it's just for a few minutes, but punishing the kitten by putting it in the closet for a few minutes can traumatize a cat if done repeatedly. Also, the kitten will/does not understand that being in the closet has anything to do with hanging on something. You have to address the problem right away, and the squirt bottle is the best way to do it. Even if he likes water, he might still be affected by the squirt bottle.
Maybe you can get him one of those kitty climbers, something tall that will let him climb up that instead of hanging on the TV, windows, etc.
