I'm sorry to not have an answer for you but what a unique and cute kitty! He looks like he's wearing a coat and scarf! I love his coloring too!

Our former foster kitten was a longhair in terms of tail and shorthair everywhere else, and never grew out of it.

My friend has a cat like that only her hair is short in the front and fluffy long in the back. Hard to say at this stage of the game if the cat will out grow it or keep it.

What an unusual -- and pretty -- cat! He looks like one of my tuxedo kitties wearing a fur coat!

I would say, there's a Maine Coon in there. My Bobby is a Maine Coon Mix and the area right behind the neck, the mane so to speak, is short haired. And so is of course the head and the legs , well longer than in a DSH but a whole lot shorter than the rest of the body hair. The Mane around the neck is a bit longer and more evened out and of course the tail hair is three inches or so. I can't find a photo where you could see it and I've been looking on the internet for pictures of Maine Coons but they are all from the front and of course all you see then is the small head enclosed by the big mane and you can't see the area right behind it (upwards from the front legs) where the hair is really short.
Anyway, that cat looks really cool and handsome (like all felines) and the coloring is cool, too. And there's definitely a Maine Coon in the family tree.
