I'm wondering what others' experiences have been. The ones I've used seem to last for 3-4 months even though they're advertised as being good for 7 months.

DO NOT USE THEM!!! Got to your vet and get prescription brand flea & tick drops. They work the best and they are the safest.

Collars and sprays you buy at the store are unsafe and they don't work nearly as well. 10s of thousands of animals have been seriously injured or killed as a result of flea collars and flea sprays. The stuff on them is regulated by the EPA because it is a pesticide, whereas the stuff you get from the vet is regulated by the FDA because it is a drug. The FDA has much higher standards. I know one cat whose jaw was paralyzed due to the flea collar and he had to be put to sleep. I nearly lost two cats to flea spray which is the same stuff as the collar.
