Okay...so I haven't the cleaned up this kitchen drawer in awhile...there were old, opened kitty treat pouches, and old oven mitts with bits of food on them...but yesterday I opened the drawer and was scrounging for something in the back and saw all these tiny tiny bugs running around! They have little wings I think but they weren't flying around like fruit flies...and there were a lot of them. I squished what I saw and threw outmost of what was in the drawer. This morning there are just a few...so they live somewhere else.
The open cupboard below had some dead ones in a (clean and empty) cat food dish.
Clearly I need to get in there and do something, but what? Clean with what? Anyone know what these are? They're not the "mealybug" type thing that one can find in flour or such...I'm wondering if they were attracted to the old, open dry treats, or maybe came in with a new bag of dry food??
I'm in an apartment, the middle of three floors, so of course that's a wild card too (neighbors could be "sending" them), but (unless I'm missing them) I haven't seen them anywhere else, but I may have to clear out all kitchen shelves.
All thoughts appreciated! My first thought was to wipe everything down with a bleach mixture but I'm sure there's something better ....
take this to the House forum. It really has nothing to do with cats.
But any food, human or animal will attract bugs. call your building's maintenance person.
