So i got with my boyfriend four months ago, and he has a two year old male cat, who's not been nuterd.

He was fine up until a couple of weeks ago. we're not sure what happened but he started meowing constantly through the day- the only time he's quiet is when he's asleep.

And just a couple of days ago, he started gnawing and tearing cardboard boxes and not eating his food?

Is there a possibility that he doesn't like the food and eating cardboard instead when he's hungry? and what about the meowing? He also meows when he's alone as i found out when i left the room to check if he does or not, and he does! And when my boyfriend goes out too. is he just lonely? or is there something else wrong?

Is there a female in the neighborhood in heat? He really needs to be neutered. He definitely needs to see a vet.

Is he urinating normally? He could have a blockage which gets very dangerous very quickly. ANY time your cat is not eating normally and ESPECIALLY when it's compounded with eating inedible objects and odd behavior it's time for a vet visit immediately.
