Perhaps you're a cat lover. Perhaps you abhor the lazy critters. Either way, when you see a cat lounging on an armchair, napping all day but for the occasional stretch or window gaze, "useless" is by no means the last word that comes to mind. Cats, beloved or otherwise, don't radiate the message that they're indispensable, hard-working members of the household, or the world.
Bold: Haha substitute armchair and we have most humans I know who live like this
I would be devastated, heartbroken if mine just suddenly died.
As far as all the strays I would have to tell my self just to be able to live with them suddenly being gone that they aren't being hurt and starving anymore. I know they are excellent hunters but when I was a kid I saw stray cats with rib cages sticking out from nearly starving to death and so many got hit by cars. But to have a world without any cats would be horrible and very sad
But, in fact, they're just playing it cool (as usual). Experts say that if all the world's cats suddenly died, things would quickly go to hell in a handbasket.
i have to completly agree with this article...my cats are both serious mousers...
i can only imagine the rodent population should cats suddenly die off...
we as a race have decimated the population of the rat/mouse's natural predators, (ie birds of prey and snakes)...so the cat has filled that little area in...depiste also predating on song birds and none invasive rodentia, they do on large play enough of a role in mouse/rat popularion control that wed be in trouble wihtout them
especially since rats especially are becomming smarter about (and actually immue to) commonly used poisens and traps.
We could see a resurgence of some ancient diseases that are indirectly kept in check because cats help to keep the rodent population down.

I'd be so lonely even if my house and clothes would be much cleaner.
Hahahahaha that reminds me I have to get one of those lint/hair remover rollers. I have one that gets washed off but it doesn't work well enough so back the throw away constantly replace sticky paper kind. Oh well I'd only get lint on them anyway. They are soooo worth it
The only way my cat would be able to kill a mouse is if she were to sit on it.
My two cats would look up at me and think: "Wouldja kill that thing already, Mom? It's bugging us."
