Another reason is they have zero experience with cats. My husband thought he hated cats until I came along. After we got our first cat he was hooked! Now here we are with 6 cats and barely any room for us in our king size bed. So maybe it's a fear of the unknown.
In my experience people who hate cats tend to have the attitude that human being are innately superior and all animals should automatically acknowledge this.
It might have something to do with that cats leave after they have taken to spraying something on your property or leaving deposits in the flower bed
I realized they share some traits with the dog I loved best. They are predators with an independent streak.
They do fine by themselves and can be social and a comfort to someone who wants a low maintenance companion animal. Just got to solve that cat box problem!
I think it's because they never had one, or had one that had a poor temperament (biter, scratcher). Maybe they had a bad early experience with a cat/cats. And there are mentally ill people who like to harm them simply because they're "crazy."
