Thanks for Allied Precision link - I have the K&H brand mats and they don't last very long I was looking for a new replacement and I may try this brand!
If one is worried about a cat kneading and possibly destroying a heated cat bed, this winter I purchased "outdoor" heated so-called pads for cat beds from K&H Pet Products. Initially, I was disappointed that they were hard but with a pad over them, my cats used them fine, so I would say that could be an option, then you wouldn't have to worry the claws would damage it. Some cats lay on hard surfaces already too anyway.
I use a kitty heating pad that I bought on 1-800-PetMeds for my oldest cat. It has literally been plugged into the wall outlet for the past 10 months, and I have to pry her off it to change the quilt that I keep over it. There is a cover over the heating pad and the additional quilt on top, so I have never had any problems. This is especially helpful as well because she occasionally "urps" her food, which is also kept in a bowl on top of the quilt. No electrocution so far! Her sister had the same kind of heating pad before she passed and loved it as well.
