He was so stressed by the other cat that was PTS March 20th that I was happy he
was eating at all, because every time I made any attempt to transition him from starch-free grain-free dry to
wet, he simply stopped eating. I think he was stress eating.
I also had him allergy tested (Bicom) and he is allergic to chicken, the dry is all chicken protein.
He has started taking a few bites of canned food, with every meal the last few
weeks.
We treated his symptoms, the low potassium with a supplement, anemia with B-12
and iron shot(s) sub-q fluids and he is responding. I haven't been able to
afford to redo his blood work, but I don't think a month is long enough in
between anyway.
I had chloroquine that we were going to use to try and stop the virus from
replicating inside him, but I kept holding off, it didn't feel right. I didn't
want to poison him if he wasn't dying.
Something in one of the Many pieces of information shared on FIP specific sites, sent me looking into a possible nutrition connection.
First I lost Meeko (March 20 2013) now Alfredo has been diagnosed with 'suspected' FIP
