Bucky and Hallie sleep whereever they want, EXCEPT that they're not allowed in our bedroom. They seem to have made their peace with that, since they have the run of the house otherwise.
There are plenty of cat-friendly sleeping spots all over the house (laundry basket filled with old, raggedy sheets, etc) and they take their pick. Once or twice a week, we will find them sleeping together. They are not related, but were raised together from kittenhood in a no-kill shelter.
Oliver either camps out on the couch or in one of the many cat hammocks we have all over the house (I used to make and sell them at Cat Shows in Texas - talk about pampered pets). Winston spends most of his day under a quilt on one of the beds. Around 8:00PM he will wander into the living room and jump up on the back of the couch and sleep there until we go to bed. And for a change of pace, he too will use one of the cat hammocks.
My little critter has her "spot" in the basement. She has a padded chair she sleeps on, her food and water dishes, and scratching post all together down there. Every night after dinner, about 8 pm or so, she lets me know that it's bedtime and wants to be escorted down to her bedroom.
I don't think Bobbles sleeps when I'm sleeping, but I've noticed that she has a daytime schedule. She starts out sleeping on the south facing windowsill during the day. In the afternoon, she moves to a west facing windowsill or a blanket on the living room floor. (She likes to sunbath.) In the late afternoon and early evening, she sleeps in the upstairs hallway. Around 10pm, she moves to the wool blanket that's in her cage. Without fail every night, she wakes up when I'm heading to bed and tries to sneak into my bedroom. I suspect she stays awake all night using her litter box because I rarely see her using it during the day, but it's full when I scoop it daily.
