I'm shocked. My neighbor got another kitten. Another neighbor was giving kittens away at Halloween. He said she stood there holding candy in one hand and a kitten in the other, asking kids which they wanted. They took the kitten. I know my neighbors will provide it with a great home, but what about the other parents who took a kitten under pressure?

And I'm wondering if Bobble's mother is still alive. He says his new kitten looks just like Bobbles---only younger. Bobbles is 6 months old. This new kitten is 8 weeks old. The other neighbor who took in Bobble's brother did a catch and return on the adult cat, but it turned out to be a male. We all assumed that Bobble's mother died. Now these young kittens indicate she might still be having babies. I also wonder if the neighbor just set the last litter loose a few blocks away when they were so young. There was another litter running around the neighborhood motherless at the same time we found Bobbles, and it was in the vicinity of the house that was giving away the kittens on Halloween.

I'm a bit surprised because I have known this neighbor for over 20 years. She's a decent person. I'm going to give her a visit. I'll say I heard she was giving out kittens that looked like my kitten. Maybe I can figure out what's happening. I want to find Bobble's mother if she's still alive. I feel badly for her if she's having multiple pregnancies per year.

I can't believe somebody who is such a "decent person" would think it OK to basically throw away kittens at innocent children. Beyond cruel and callous. I hope you can get to the bottom of this. If she is indeed doing what you think she should be reported. But just giving kittens away at Halloween is bad enough.

That's why I'm shocked and surprised. I haven't talked to her in a few years. Maybe she's losing her mind.

Thanks for validating that something is serious amiss in my neighborhood with kittens.

I'm going to make it my mission to figure this out and solve the problem.

There are people at almost all the WalMart shopping plazas here who give away, no questions asked, both kittens and puppies to anyone who will take them.

You will see them in the larger parks also. How many of those innocent baby animals end up dead in a few days because the child's parents left the animal there when they went home?

There should be large fines for doing this.

I cringe when I see those selling or giving away animals in parking lots. But at least we can assume they are being given to adults who had to drive there in the first place. But with halloween the kids go to the door and then walk away with a kitten. I bet some just set the kitten down in the grass and walk on.

The neighbor wasn't giving them to kids who were by themselves. She was doing it to kids who were with their parents. It was the parents decision, but I am still shocked by it because she wasn't giving kittens to people who even gave a thought about having a kitten until they were faced with "Daddy, please!" I know my neighbors who took a kitten will be good owners. I'm worried about the other two kittens and if the parents who agreed to take the kittens will be good owners.

well that is a bit better than what I thought it was- some lady dropping kittens in outstretched trick or treat bags!
