I have a kitten that is nearly 10 months old. He has had chronic diarrhea with mucus and blood in his stool occasionally since I got him. It took about 5 months to finally get an accurate diagnosis of trichomonas foetus. He completed the treatment of Ronidazole and I was hopeful we were in the clear. He had no side effects from the meds. Unfortunately, roughly six weeks later he relapsed and starting having the same watery, stinky diarrhea again. I search everywhere online and came across this thread. I purchased artemisinin and started giving 1/8 a capsule twice a day. Within three days the stool is completely normal. I am amazed. I will continue the artemisinin for a complete week then let you know. If this actually works, more people should be aware of this possibility for an alternative treatment. I guess if anything, at least it's helped with the symptoms as trichmonas foetus ( the diarrhea) which for me as a pet owner is all I can hope for since the disease itself doesn't seem to affect the cats overall health.

Zoologix has a very sensitive feline diarrhea panel
to detect protozoans and parasites
