It a town called Hardin in Il, a man tied a cat he claimed was sick to the hitch of his pickup truck by a rear leg and dragged it to death. I will not post the picture here. The Police refused to act. Deputy Parker reported to the scene laughing! LAUGHING!!!! He said it looked to him like it was a sick joke and said, "oh well!"

I guess it's legal to torture cats (and dogs) to death in this town when the Police LAUGH and think it's funny.

How long before someone devoid of empathy like that climbs the ladder to dragging humans behind cars? IMHO someone who is sadistic and devoid of empathy, even if only demonstrated towards animals, is a threat to the safety of other people.

I did not look at the photos, it makes me ill to know it happened. I hope this becomes a national outrage. Anyone who would do that to an animal will do it to a human. The deputy who laughed should be sanctioned at minimum, and educated, this is not a practical joke. Harming animals is sick and violent. It is NEVER a joke. It is NEVER ok to do violence to one. It is EVERYONE's responsibility to speak out against it even if we don't care for the species. (Climbing off soap box now. Thank you for listening.)

You need to call the closest Dept. of Cruelty to Animals and report it to them. Just sick.

It doesn't say much for the cop either. He thought it was funny. What kind of cop is that? He has to be just as bad. Did he do something similar in his lifetime? It amazes me that IL allows torture and abuse of companion animals.

You may balk at doing this, but you might consider getting in touch with a local (or national!) Animal Rights group; they can bombard the authorities with FAXs, emails and letters (believe me, they will). This works, I can promise you that--IF you find the right people.

On a local PBS station in Tulsa, they were advertizing fur. I did this, and they had to close the station. A lot of the "fur" -- even the fake "fur" -- is actually cat fur, from China. I kid you not. Bastards.

Activism WORKS, particularly if it hits people in their pocketbooks (losing their jobs, etc.). Apparently they have no consciences.

It's not that hard to do, or time consuming, and you won't get into trouble. You just have to find the right people and let them take it from there. Do it.

I'm not going to look at the pics either, but I'd like to remind everyone that just because someone says something on the Internet doesn't mean it is true.

Please tell me that did not happen. The only way to get anything done is to elevate it. That officer reports to someone, a state agency, the voters, someone can cost him his job over this. Sadly the only way to make some of the trash in this world to do the right thing is to shame them into it. I suspect that policeman is a coward. That's why he didn't act. He shouldn't be wearing a badge!
