Seteria and Blaliko get "The Crazies" now and then, rising from naps to gallop through the house from back to front and back again. At times they'll also pace in circles on the porch or dart back and forth between inside and outside. Not infrequently this coincides with a full moon.
It's easy to laugh or head-scratch over this sort of behavior. But it gives credence to theories about the paranormal. Maybe there really are spirits of previous inhabitants that are paying a visit. I've had plenty of unexplained minor occurrences take place in the two years since my prior cat died to be less skeptical about this. My 105-year-old house has no doubt been home to other persons and animals who were a strong presence during their lives. The common remark, "You look like you've seen a ghost," could be right on the money where the "grrrrlz" are concerned!
Either my cats are seeing something, or they have very wild and vivid imaginations.
When I see that fur rise up, those ears go back, that tail bush out, and that "ready to take off stance", (not to be mistaken for the "ready to pounce and kill you" stance), while staring at something on the wall or even in mid-air, I wonder if they are seeing something, or if they are playing make believe like a child does.
The only time that I've seen them do that when I was able to see what they saw, was when I was straightening a framed poster on my wall, and a gigantic, hideous, disgusting, fat, 8 legged demon spawn skuttled from beneath it across the wall. My white cat took one look at that thing and tore out of the room.

Gee, thanks cat.
I lol'd at your first statement... ! Probably the latter is true!
I don't know about the paranormal, but I do know that cats get way too excited way too fast over lots of things. If they see something like a shadow or a pattern that "moves" in their heads, they can get spooked. Not to make a pun...
Even odd vibrations in the floor or somewhere in the house (or wherever) will alert them. Seems like more investigation is in order-- OR we can just enjoy their idiosyncracies and give them a pat now and then.
My cats currently are fascinated with the heating ducts. No doubt a bird or rodent has fallen down the chimney; they can smell it, but I can't.
