The resurrection of the Nip Mice is a sacred event at our house.
The cats are curious about every ritual in the process, but they are very respectful and never interfere.
When the mice are all clean and stuffed with fresh nip, we release them to the cats and the Festival begins.
The Festival intensifies with the Re-filling of the Scratcher Boxes.
Too Cute! The nip-mouse is also Tiger's favorite toy. It was funny to hear him growling the first time Marcello tried to take it from him. Then Tiger proceeded to carry it around the house looking for a place to hide it. After 15 minutes with no success in finding the perfect spot, he crawled under the covers, behind my knees and pushed it up the leg of my pajama bottoms.

The last cat I had that reacted to catnip was around 1955. None of the 4 I have now react to it.
Our kitten has managed to hide his nip mice and other small toys so well that we have no idea where they are. And then he walks around complaining that he has no toys to play with.
Finally found a style of toy that really, really appeals to Nimbus. Cheap little jingly balls, hard plastic ones that skitter noisily across the kitchen floor. He loves to play "cat soccer." Fortunately they are ~just~ big enough that they can't get lost under things, though I've been woken multiple times in the night because he likes to throw them down the stairs (and chase them, of course.)
He loves catnip, but not catnip toys. He only likes the loose flakes that he can roll around in. Although he'll snort it right from the container too, given half a chance...
