What a happy story. But we all know purring doesn't necessarily mean a content cat.

I think the ledge helped break the cat's fall. We had cats come in where I worked that fell from apt windows and most did have injuries, often internal if they fell from high enough, even though they landed on their feet - their bellies and bottom jaw would hit the pavement. Fractured jaws and teeth were most common.
