my cat has not had much of an appetite, he's had diarrhea last couple days, and he throws up a lot after he eats.

It could be a number of things. If today is the third day, then I'd suggest a vet visit because dehyration can set in very quickly and just as quickly compromises the kidneys (and other organs). A bout with these symptoms for a day is one thing, but more than two days says something else.

ITA with mawipafl. Three symptoms for more than 24 hours should not be ignored.

I know this sounds gross, but if you could take a photo of the vomit to show the vet, it might be helpful for him/her to see. And, if your cat goes outside at all, bring in a stool sample for evaluation. He could have a parasite.

I agree with Rene S ... letting the vet know if it's undigested food coming up or partially/well-digested food helps to start a diagnosis.

Along with the other excellent replies I will add to take note of the way she is vomiting. For example, does it come right up in front of her, or is it projectile?

But yes, the vet today is a must.

It could be any number of things, depending on age, diet, indoor/outdoor, and so on.
