Can anyone recommend a water fountain that doesn't make any noise? I have tried several models but the cats won't go near them; I suspect because of the noise from the engine. I've heard the Cat Mate Pet Fountain is pretty quiet - any feedback?

Thanks

I have a Drinkwell original fountain (probably the 3rd over the years). Sometimes it's very quiet, other times not so much. When it gets louder than I think it should be I unplug it a couple of times really fast and it seems to put it back in quiet mode. But, all in all, I'd say it's pretty quiet. I hear the water flowing more than the motor. I have also found that placing a rubber mat or some kind noise dampener under mine really helps with motor noise on hard floors.

On a side note - I have tried other fountains and after wasting my money on them, I always go back to the Drinkwell.

My house came with a water fountain already installed for the cat's convenience. It's called the kitchen sink, and it works quite well. I must say though that the automatic/self-serve function does leave a lot to be desired.
I can almost guarantee you if I bought a Drinkwell or similar appliance for my girls, they would totally ignore it..... simply because it fits there sense of entitlement better to have me turn the faucet on for them.

I leave the tap running too but I thought a fountain might save me a few pennies by recycling the water rather than waste it . Ah well. It's probably not that big an amount.

That would depend on how many faucet drinkers you have. At one time I had 4 of them, and I got in the habit of waiting till they were done so I could turn off the faucet and not run too much water.
It sounds pretty silly to someone not totally owned by a cat, but for me it was just a perfectly normal part of everyday life.
Down to only 1 faucet cat now, so it's not so bad.
