I got her from the SPCA several months ago. Before she could be released, she needed to have several things done including being de-wormed. She never goes outside. My question is how did she get them? I have had her here since about August 2015 and now just seeing one in her stool. I plan to go to pet store for some medicine to rid them from her. I just wonder where she got them from.
Any thoughts? She is the only pet, has not mingled with other animals since I brought her home.
I was curious, so I googled. It's possible that an indoor cat can eat an insect, like a fly, that can introduce the larvae into the cat's system. Not all insects carry the larvae, but some do. Of course not all cats eat bugs, but some do or at least try them once.

Thank you. I have seen her crunch on a fly now and then when one is around (not that often). But it only takes one, right?
I have had a few cats who were de-wormed pop up with roundworms later; in at least one cat, the worms appeared much later. Not fun to see those little darlings in stool and being hacked-up by the cat! Another round of de-worming did the trick.
Deworming doesn't always stick. It only kills adult worms so has to be done twice, at least. But don't bother with the pet store products. They don't work and are likely to poison your cat (or kill her)
You need to use drontal (gotten at the vet) or a spot on like revolution or profender.
Hook worms are a lot more serious. If it were my kitty, he or she would be off to the vet.
Worms. Blech.
