She also rolls over so I can rub her belly - in the wild, that could get them killed, so it is a sign in domestic cats that they love and trust you.
Same with my fur kids....Marshmallow was adopted as an adult, rescue cat. His owner had to go into a nursing home Her Marshmallow was also bottle-fed as a kitten. He bonded with me after losing his "mama" and would cuddle, let me rub his belly, and knead anything soft, like blankets, etc

Cat
It's a trap!

My two love belly rubs, so those are not charming, floofy traps. As a matter of fact, if they are standing and I rub their undercarriage, they flop over so I can rub more real estate.

My two are both cuddlers...one learned the behavior a after he realized this home was really his.

It's a trust thing.

My cat has always had a slightly aloof streak- he prefers to be near me, or next to me, but not on my lap. I got him when he was 8 weeks old and basically just cuddled him constantly and held him like a newborn baby (stomach up) from the moment I got him.

I think that between how I raised him, and his very docile temperament, it created a cat who can be held, rolls on his back and loves to get his stomach rubbed, loves to be brushed and groomed, but is still slightly aloof.

Even now, over 19 years later, when he is on my bed in the morning, trying to wake me up so I will feed him, if I grab him and pull him up against me to cuddle, he will ever so slightly shift himself so that he is right next to me, but not up against me.

My cat is on my lap constantly but I enjoy holding her. The problem is I can't get up! She's sleeping on my lap right now and I really need to get up and do several things, but I don't want to disturb her. She's too comfortable- and so am I! I do believe her love is real.

My husband and I joke that when cats cuddle us, it's because we are warm. That said, we've had many cats that just loved to cuddle up against us for hours. And some that will lay near us, but not right up against us. To each his own.
