I found a kitten in my yard screaming and i am keeping him in my house for to night because my neighbor has a dog that does not particually like cats. So i am going to keep the cat inside until tomorrow so i can look for his parents. And everytime i move or try to go to sleep he bites at my feet and he wont stop meowing. I need to work in the morning. Does anyone know how i can calm the kitten down? Please any information would be a blessing for me.
Put him in a cardboard box with a towel on the bottom and put it someplace like in your bathroom. If you have any litter, put some in there too in a pan. When we brought Lucky home 8 years ago from finding him on the street, we did exactly that until we decided how to better care for him.
God bless you for looking out for the little guy !
The kitten may be hungry. A hungry kitten cries very loudly and knows how to be very demanding. Check the gums... do you see small pointy teeth? It may be in the process of being weaned by mom so he will need to continue with milk, which you can get at Walmart, the Kitten Milk Replacer. Mixed a little bit of that with some kitten canned food, add water, stir until it becomes a paste. Leave a bowl of dry food for him to nibble on when you are not around.
Please take the kitten to the vet asap to check for parasites and to determine his age.
Once you have taken the kitten from outside, it's difficult to return it to the mom, as it was probably hiding when she watched you take her baby away. Mom cats know that they can produce more and it wasn't worth risking her life to save one.
