One of my male cats is being treated for a uti. He eats only canned food (very high quality) so I don't know how he got this is in the first place. I've noticed that when he urinates in the litter pan, he doesn't cover it. He does when he poops. Has anyone experienced this or know why it should occur?

We had a cat who covered #1 but not #2. Our oldest cat, Benny, covers #2 but not #1. Both of our other cats cover both.

It's likely not related to the UTI, but is just a quirk.

Same with my 3 ladycats. Always/usually covers #2, but rarely covers #1. Wouldn't read too much into it, unless it's a new behavior for him that he wasn't doing before the UTI. Even if it is, it may not not mean anything. The fact that he is urinating at all is the important thing.

Hope he gets better soon.
