Or Ollie by real name. May I share a precious story with you because I cannot forget? One Sunday last winter, the temperature was zero - the only zero day we had that season. A neighbor who also lived in our apartment building opened his door to go outside. Before he got the door half opened, here came this large gray tom cat. Cold out there, he seemed to say as he looked up at the neighbor.

There are only ten families in our building and, of all them, I was the only one able to take him in. I could not keep him but he could stay overnight and I'd call our cat group that finds homes for strays. I took him upstairs and another neighbor, who already had a cat, brought me litter and food for him.

Ollie was no stray. He knew where everything was and fit right in, doing what cats do, causing no trouble. In the evening, he curled up in my lap and lay there staring at me until he fell asleep. It turned out that I had to keep him two night and, believe me, I became too attached to this little fellow.

OK. The rescue society took him and found a home for him fast. That surprised me as he was no kitten (what everyone wants), was just a very sedate mature cat - about two years old, they said. So, Ollie was adopted by a family in a nearby city. As it turned out, this family also has a bull dog. The two took to each other immediately. Now Ollie sleeps curled up around the sleeping bull dog.

Can you imagine it - a cat wrapping himself around a bull dog? I wish so much I had a picture of that. Now Ollie has a home and is happy. I still miss him after having him only two nights and days.

Just wanted to share with other cat lovers.

A very nice story about a deserving stray finding a home. You did a good job for him OP.

Sadly, they don't always turn out as good as this one. But we take what we can get.

Thanks for posting, btw.

What a sweet story! So glad Ollie had you to watch out for him, and to help him get to his new home with a cuddle buddy.

I don't foster long-term, but have had cats in my house for a few hours up to a few days (the resident cats don't cotton to outsiders). I do miss some of them, for sure! It's so easy to get attached.
