You take his toy and throw it about 20 feet, he darts after it like a dog, and picks it up and trots back to you and drops it on your lap to do it again. My girlfriend played fetch with him for 3 hours straight until she couldn't take it anymore and hid the toy.
After she went to bed, about an hour later he came walking up to me and dropped it on my lap after finding it. I couldn't believe it.
Have you ever heard of such a thing?!

LOL - an answer to your question - yes......cats are so much fun. My Ziggy does that.....not for 3 hours though lol. I think that cats sometimes get ....shall we say .....confused. They think they're dogs lol.
Yes, my Deeno will fetch as long as you keep tossing his little bear (which was too big for him to drag around when he first started fetching as a kitten).
He gets so excited when I pick up one of his 2 fetching toys & he darts after them SO fast, picks it up (sometimes after knocking it around for a few secs.) then brings it back over to my feet.
I thought it to be unusual too considering most cats are like, "yeah, whatever..."
We have cool cats
I have several cats that like to play fetch, but they only do it when they feel like it. Sometime right in the middle of the game they switch from fetch to keep away and want me to chase them to get the ball.
My childhood cat did that. After awhile she'd tucker out and refuse to bring the ball back, though. She still wanted to chase the ball, but she wanted me to fetch it.
Current kitties chase balls on the staircase. I've trained them to bat the ball back down to the bottom of the stairs if it doesn't drop back on its own. No fetching needed.
my female Piper does it! but, she doesn't put it on my lap. She has to drop the toy in her favorite cardboard box. It's like a offering to the cardboard gods every time. She'll then sit next to it and tell me to go and get it.
One of our cats fetches hair elastics and those rubber bracelets that were so popular a little while ago. When he's through with them he drops them in the dogs water bowl.
My Salem likes to play fetch. My Mom sent him these mice from the dollar store, as far as I can see there is nothing special about them but here it is like 4 years later and he is still dragging them out for a game of fetch.
He also plays with other toys as well, like balls and most recently we got a ball that had a bell inside and feathers on the outside. He loves this thing, he carries it around in his mouth. He cracks me up.
I also have a toy that is a long pole with something called Rat Tail hanging off of it, in different lengths with knots in it, he will grab this thing an drag it around the house.
Thats what I love about cats, they such unexpected things.
