It's sad to see a cat in that shape, but I'm glad he's where he is and getting the help he needs. Also glad to see the media coverage, which will likely get him adopted to the right home much quicker.

Wishing the best for you Symba.

That's some serious neglect, letting a cat get to be that size.

Wow, what a chunker. It obviously had access to food 24/7.

Probably more of a matter of what he was being fed rather than the quantity.

Looks a little like my cat!

I read somewhere that orange tabbies love food and will eat non stop if you let them. I wonder if it's true.
I have an orange tabby female who was 14 pounds at one point, she was considered overweight. We gradually reduced her portions to nearly 60% of what she was supposed to get according to the suggested dosage. She actually lost 3 pounds and now is considered to be at a healthy weight. She is moving more, even while getting older. We are thrilled!
We never free fed, but she was never very active and always stole any food in her sight. Ugh.

Both my cats throw up if they over eat and the only time they over eat is when I put something new in their bowl or hand feed them. I'm thinking he was fed peope food and not cat food.
