As of this afternoon I have two cats. Lucy age 2 and lori age 3. They are both small cats. And still a bit nervous after the car ride home. Both were lovebugs at the shelter but now are just hiding. I have tried to coax Lori out with goodies and she stays put. She will only eat a treat if I drop it in front of her.
Lucy has come out of hiding several times already and it appears she can never get too much attention. I have them separated in different rooms per the shelters instructions until they get used to me and their new home. I have had cats before and when you have two they keep themselves entertained. Especially playing chase the kitty up and down the hall in the middle of the night.
2 in my household a bro and sis going on 3 years old. ROWDY!!! But they're well behaved for the most part. I witnessed the male walking across the kitchen one evening with the intention of doing some dumpster diving in the garbage. My daughter saw him too and hissed loudly and pointed at him, He turned right around and went back to the living room.
We have 3 now. We’ve not had more than 4. These might be our last ones, given our age. Also, we have had bad luck and I’m weary from the pain of loss. We’ve had none of them live longer than 11 years and lost one as early as 5 years (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). We lost two to cancer, another to restrictive cardiomyopathy and one we have now has epilepsy and is on anti-seizure meds for life...ironically, he will be our longest surviving pretty soon.
