Question about microchip
We had both our cats microchipped when we got them from the Humane Society. Initially I could the chips under their skin between their should blades but now I can't feel them at all. Can the chip "travel" under their skin and eventually be rejected by the cat or is it just buried under the skin? My youngest cat is due for his round of shots in about 4 months so I can get their chips checked then. Just curious thanks!

There should be no charge for you to go to the vet and have an assistant scan your cat just to make sure it is properly placed and reading correctly. they chould be able to do this simply in the waiting room if there are no other pets around. Might be a positive way to reinforce to your cat that not everytime you go to the vet she will be poked and handled.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can't feel them in either cat. This worries me.

Called my vet (probably should have done that in the first place) and they said that its not unusual not to be able to feel the chip under the skin. Not totally happy with that but for now I'll have to be thanks for the support!

they told us when we had our cat chipped last year that it often travels and to not worry about it. Strange, we've never been able to feel the chip!

I have never been able to feel the chips in any of my six cats, except for one and I could just feel that when it was first put in but now I can't find it.

I have never been able to feel a chip in any of my cats or dogs. I would think it wasn't in correctly if I could feel it. However, as others said, the chips do travel around sometimes.

Never felt the chip in my cat either. Call your vet and ask them. They'll be able to tell you and save you a trip
