Is it true that feeding your cat fish flavored wet food all the time is not good for their health? Any links or research done that could help wit this?

I did not know this might put crystals in their urine. I've been feeding the fish mix Holistic Select to my cats for a while now and sadlly just bought my monthly portion.

Any info?

I've heard this, but have not seen any veterinary evidence to back it up.

My cats like variety. They prefer chicken and turkey, but if I toss them a can of fish or lamb every now and then, they get all excited. For few minutes anyway.

My cats would only eat the fish once introduced it to them. Maybe I need to try again about this. It just sucks for me cause I stocked up on the fish stuff!

I read in another post it being unhealthy but I'm. Just not sure...

Deegers, after a Google search on feeding cats canned fish (I really should get back to work, but this thread made me as curious as ... well ... as a cat!!), occasionally feeding the cats fish isn't going to hurt them, especially if it's cat-food fish of a high quality. It's an all-fish diet that can be a problem, especially if the fish is people tuna.

You have to check the ash content on the label, that's what usually cause
crystals. ash level 3 or lower, check the labels It will tell you.My cats don't
like fish, they eat turkey, chicken or liver.the lower the ash level the better.

Thanks Ohiogirl. I think I'll go get a few cans of the chicken mix and break up the pattern of all fish mix wet food. I have to wait unfortunetely since I need to save money for some other things this month. Sigh, I hate money sometimes...

I read that same post , deegers and since then Gracie has not had any fish. She likes beef, but the vet told me that was not good for her so its usually turkey or something. It has to be sliced. Not that flat stuff. Not for The Empress.
