Haggard, the orange and white cat is magnificent! So photogenic. We are still mourning the loss of our 19 yo orange and white guy.
bs, love the name and the kitty! She seems pretty comfortable in your home after just a few days, posing with her tummy up!

She defiinitely seems comfortable. The other cat is not her biggest fan but at least he doesn't attack her. He's been giving me the cold shoulder since she arrived, too.

Cute! What is it about tabby and white? I am drawn to those for some reason, it seems, always notice them in the shelter.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry for your loss. We tell our kitties all the time that they must live forever. We keep our eyes open for feline immortality serums.
Yes we have two cats but our orange tabby is the ham.
Here our shy boy:

Haggard, let me know when you discover the feline immortality serum! It would make an interesting thread: how much would you pay for such a thing? All kidding aside, we are actually thankful to have a cat who lived to be 19---especially since he had lifelong inflammatory bowel disease and was, shall we say, pleasantly plump.
The black cat is gorgeous. Can't believe shelters have difficulty getting black cats adopting.

Our black boy is the sweetest cat I have ever known. And we almost didn't adopt him. I was babysitting a group of rescued kittens for a cat trapper (a lady who works with the Feral Cat Coalition who traps feral and stray cats and gets them spayed/neutered and vax'd and wormed, etc.) and I fell in love with one of the kittens - a calico girl. We have a two-cat rule, and we already had our orange tabby who was also a kitten at the time... I really thought I had my heart set on the little calico girl...
Well... hubby wanted the black kitten in the group. He was a scrawny little thing at the time, with health problems. The cat trapper said he might not make it.
Meanwhile, the calico girl wasn't getting along with our orange tabby... in fact, she was pretty nasty to him and he was afraid of her. But our orange tabby seemed to like the scrawny black kitten... they even fell asleep together with their paws on each other like they were hugging, it was the cutest thing.
So, I decided that I had to say goodbye to my calico girl and my hubby got his black kitten.
And of course - what happens? Hubbies black kitten is now MY black lap kitty. I can't imagine life without him. He sleeps at my feet, watches movies with me, is the softest teddy bear of a cat you've ever known (I think he must be part rabbit or something, his fur is sooo soft...)... he's really the first cat that I've ever considered a "son". We've had pets before, but somehow this one is more than a pet. Hard to explain.
And that calico girl? The cat trapper said she went to a good home with lots of daughters (we have all sons)... and that they say she meows all the time and is very "verbal". Gosh! Our kitty boys are so quiet... I'm really glad we didn't adopt a loud-mouth! lol
Anyway... I love black cats now. Every time I see one my heart aches. I want to adopt or rescue them all. They really do have the coolest personalities, and I love how laid-back and sweet they are.
Somebody should start a black cat rescue shelter. Wouldn't that be an awesome job if you could somehow make it profitable?

Two cat rule, hhe? Trying to resist becoming the crazy cat lady? Not sure you could----I think CCLs are at their best when they are single......
And now that I mentioned crazy cat lady, let me link to a funny photo (and notice how all the cats are black):
CRAZY CAT LADY SCHOOL - Lolcats 'n' Funny Pictures of Cats - I Can Has Cheezburger?
There actually is an explanation of why all the cats are black in this photo of the CCL Class of 1959.
