I like this idea. How does it work? Do we just ask a cat rescue?
Leo's much better. We had another cat we loved very much who never accepted him. She passed away a couple of years ago. Her replacement is very patient with Leo, and he's a lot more comfortable as a result. He's a great cat.
In our area, and probably yours too, there are rescue groups. We have one here called Haven on Earth, and they look for people to foster kitties until they are old enough for adoption. I could never do it, I would end up not being able to part with any of them...…….I get too attached.

I just told my wife, and that's exactly where she went. "I'll fall in love with them." We have two inside, and a bunch of visitors at the back door. Not looking for more. But she's mentioned wanting to take care of a litter of kittens before. We'll see.

I would have the same problem as well. It takes a special person to devote that much time & emotion in raising kittens, and then be able to see them leave for their forever homes. Fosters perform a valuable function though, and I have great respect for them & what they do. It's not for everyone, but I hope you & your wife will give it some thought.
And yes, the first step would be to find any rescues in your area that have foster programs.
Yep. Calico's are beautiful all right. It's most likely a female. IIRC it's a 1 in 3000 chance it would be a male. They can have a good dose of 'cattitude' as well. I had four at one time... 1 dilute calico, and 3 Calicos with tabby patterns mixed in. We were constantly having serious discussions about who was really in charge around here. We never did come to an agreement on that.
