Our little fellow is only about 3 1/2, but he's been a little squeaker as long as we've had him. He's got an amazing vocabulary, like most kitties, but all in a very high register. As if to make up for it, his purr is a deep, basso rumble, almost but not quite a roar.

When I come into the bedroom at night, he's usually already curled up next to my spouse, and as I come over to the bed, he'll start up that purr engine, then make little murmuring chirps through the purr as if telling me "come on to bed and start snuggling, what's taking you so long?"

He's also one of those that whispers: looks up at you soulfully, purring away like a mad thing, and opens his mouth in an obvious meow, but with no vocalization. It never fails to melt my heart... which is probably why he does it, of course.

Both my cats have a spectrum of vocalizations that keep me laughing...they are ALWAYS yapping about something! My female (12) gets annoyed with the male kitten (6 1/2 months) when he gets nutty, (which is a lot right now!) and does this thing that starts with a mid-tone yowl, swoops up to a high and then plummets into a low rrrrr...a vast improvement over the initial hiss/snort/growl combo. she had going when he first arrived...lol! Around mealtime she starts getting under my feet and squeaking little eh ehs at me while her brother downright says meeeeoooowww...rrrrayaaaawww! He squeaks too, but only if I catch him doing something wrong...he looks up with those big green, eyes and says meeep...? Of course, they both know the little squeaky noises make it impossible for me to stay annoyed...very smart little devils, both!!!
