Looking for a better way to control my Ragdoll Cats (each weigh 22 lbs) shedding and inherent barfing up hair balls, I discovered first the Furminator and then the Zoom Groom. Vet (after $150 for treatment and diagnosis of "bad hair balls") charged me $50 for the furminator which she demonstrated on Oscar. Sure enough it was wonderful and in a blind desire to do anything to help I bought one. Then I went home and Googled Furminator where I found them at half price and then I went to Cat Forum where I found discussion of Zoom Groom. It cost $4.19 online and $7.49 aT Pet Smart. Best purchase I ever made. Only wish I had found it sooner and I had to tell my City Forum friends about this find. It would be great for short haired cats and even dogs too.
I really do think I cut my cats' hair volume in half using the zoom groom. Such a simple idea and invention. It's great for getting pet hair off furniture too. I promise I'm not a retailer...
At our house cat hair is a condiment.

Okay, I read the title and thought you were telling us to stay away from some new-fangled vacuum that literally ate half your cat! I'm happy to see I was wrong.

Thumbs up I will second this recommendation!

I have a Birman that currently matches the carpet in our current house, but when we move (to Raleigh) we'll have hardwood floors and I'm really looking forward (NOT) to sweeping often.

The Zoom Groom really works.. now just to get my touchy cat to sit still for more than 60 seconds...

I use the back of it to get hair off furniture, clothes, etc.

The best $5 I ever spent, cat-wise

Now *that* is funny... had me visualizing which half of the cat was consumed...

Thanks for the tip! We have ragdolls too and boy do they have fur flying right now! Our cats don't like being combed or brushed, unless they are in JUST the right mood. I'm going for a zoom groom right now.

So glad to find out about this! We've got a Ragdoll too, and he is NOT a fan of being brushed but is in desperate need of it right now...maybe I'll stop finding balls of fluff on my floors once I use it! Thanks for the recommendation. Can't wait to go buy it.

All you Raggie lovers! Didn't know we had so many on board!
I know exactly how you feel! ZG is great and what I like about it, it is gentle on their coats...All 3 of my ragdolls vouch for it

I was envisioning a "Roomba" type thing chasing the cat around. I hate cats, so I was happy to think, even for a short while, that the vacuum robot won.
