Default Sidney...the little lost stray I fell in love with..

I posted a picture of Sidney, a cute little kitten I found Friday morning, on the top thread about cat pics. Since my first posting, Sidney has been ill and I have been spending the holiday weekend at my vets office. Sidney is approximately 6 weeks old, and intially arrived with what appeared to be only an eye infection. After sleeping the entire day I brought him in, he then had a rough night with vomiting.

Sidney is 1lb and 14oz. He has been to the vet twice now. He has had a fluid iv and we are trying to find out why he is not eating. I am putting food in his mouth at this point. His fecal test came back okay and he will be tested for other feline diseases tomorrow (Monday).

I was asked by someone on the cat pics thread to start a Sidney thread, so that is what I am doing. Being able to share some of my feelings in this process is helping me. My son is tending to the little ball of fluff right now, AKA, they are both sleeping on the couch lol. It gives me a break since the first night he was here I slept on the office floor with him.

I know many who are just reading this may give me tons of advice, and all is welcome, but please understand that I have 2 other cats which were rescue kittens as well in poor health and have been through this a few times. I understand that young babies, especially at this weight, need dire medial attention, and that is exactly what Sidney is getting. We love animals and couldnt stand the thought of not doing everything possible to give this precious little guy a chance at a good life with us.

Here is a picture of Sidney on his first day here...he looks a little worse for wear at this time so I dont want to take any current pics, but hope to have more to share soon. Keep your fingers crossed for Sidney, and a good pray always helps!

What a cutie! and lots of prayers for Sidney, I swear all the prayers helped my dog Layla survive a life-threatening stomach blockage/surgery.

Yeah!!! A Sidney thread!!! Im so thrilled that he picked YOUR doorstep to howl at. He's about the cutest little fellow ever, and I hope he ends up having a very long happy life with you. I still think he looks like he's got maine coon in him...regardless, hes 100% purebred ADORABLE! Good luck with him, especially figuring out why he wont eat.
BTW, how are your other kitties adapting? And your husband? Bet there was no way he could say no to that face! purrr!!

Oh he is so handsome?
Have they done any Xray or ultrasounds of his abdomen and pelvis?

My husband will be back tonight about 9pm....we will see how that goes, but since I take care of the animals in the house...dont I have a majority vote?? And I am putting small amounts of food in his mouth every couple of hours...small amounts are about a teaspoon full, thats all he will stand for but I figure it is better than nothing.
As for my other kitties, well, they dont get to sniff noses or anything till we find out about feline diseases, but at least they have stopped hissing. Of course they are getting lots of love and extra treats and just more encouragement than normal (which is hard to do since they are spoiled rotten) but I know they will be just fine when the time comes to bring them all together. Our munchkin (the almost 2 year old rescue) hopped into my lap while my son was curled up on the couch with Sidney...he wanted his cuddle time too, and he got it

nebulous1--all that will take place tomorrow morning...until then, each purr we get from his is rewarded with lots of kisses..keep your fingers crossed that we get through this. My melt down in the vets office yesterday when he ate for them was proof to me how emotionally attached I am to him already. I just hope for the best for him...

THANK YOU AGAIN to everyone for your kind words...

Quick update, Sidney just drank quite a bit of water out of a bowl on his own..twice in the past 30 minutes....we are celebrating! Anything he can get in his body makes us happy. He is sitting in the window watching the children play outside....seems quite content and this is the longest he has been awake since he was rescued.
I think all the well wishes and prayers are working! THANK YOU everyone!

What a fella!

He looks like he's part Maine Coon, I had a rescue kitten that turned out to be at least part coon, they make great pets!

If he only weighted 1.14 pounds he must have really been malnourished because he looks to be 4-6 weeks old at least in the face, quite underweight. But sounds like he's got everything going for him now!
