What to do with cat hair allover everything?
Hi All,
My bf is the proud owner of 2 kitties: a sweet tortoise shell spade fm and a rambunctious neutered Bengal (hybrid). I like the cats enough, but I myself have not lived with animals in the home in a very long time and when I did I never saw the amount of (cat) hair on everything in the house (from the sofa, to the clothes, to the counters, you name it everything is coated). BF says it is mostly from the Bengal. He has very fine fur, much like a bunny and does not shed coats like some animals, yet is constantly shedding.
BF and I are joining households in a few months and I would like to know what can be done to cut down on hair on everything? Are there any washes ( I seem to remember a spray on"bath"), products that help clean or repel, or any other tips you all can suggest? BF seems to be very non-chalant about hair allover, sorry I can't feel the same way. It really grosses me out.

Buy yourself a good vacuum...(Dyson's are great) and invest in a clothes brush. Beyond that, most cat lovers learn to live with it. Have yet to find a "wash" that does any good. Brushing the cats help as well.

Get a furminator it helps reduce it but nothing will stop it. I thought I had it bad with just the cat but with my new lab and the cat I swear I pickup enough to make a new cat every few days.

I have my Mom's old cat and while she is short haired, she has thick plush fur and being old, she is not able to groom herself anymore. I have only had her for 2 years and she just recently will let me brush her like I do all my other (3 others that LOVE it). Brushing cuts way down on the shedding. With Boo, I brush her every time she gets in my lap, 3, 4, 5 times a day and that cuts waaaaay down how the big clumps of her fur I find.... But, the fur is still everywhere. I have all my furniture covered in light blankets or sheets.... even my bedspread and a quick washing and dryer time takes care of a lot of it.... vacuuming gets what washing and brushing don't.

The brushing was already suggested by me to BF. Tortoise-shell kitty enjoys it, but Neko the Bengal.....well Bengals are something else entirely. He prefers to bite the brush or tries to take the brush (not so into the brush). Also as a Bengal, he does not have an undercoat (that's what BF says).
I guess I am just gonna have to be much more susie-homemaker or cleaning machine (whichever you prefer). He does the blakets and stuff on furniture as well, but I always feel like I am just sitting on wads of cat hair. It's very difficult especially since I prefer dark colored clothing and Neko is whiteish/silver (with black markings), so even when I don't see the hair, my clothes seem to find all of it.
I guess I will just have to get used to it (for the love of this man!).

I have a large serving platter that has a picture of a cat in the middle and around the edge is written "Everything tastes better with a little cat hair in it." Get used to it if you can't get him to brush the Bengal every damn day.

You could also try the zoom groom. If you turn it over and use the flat side it works great on the furniture.

LOL...I think I have a lint brush in just about every room. One even in my car! Keeping working on the Bengal. My son has 2 that actually loved to be brushed. It is all what they get use to.
With the Bengal, you might try giving him a toy or another brush to chew on, while you brush. It is what works best with a new kitten I have.

Brush the kitties regularly outside to get rid of loose hair and use a damp washcloth on the furniture to remove the hair. It picks it up much easier than any other method. Make sure you are prepared to do all this as BF will expect you to when you move in together. It would be a deal breaker for me if it stressed me out.
