With all due respect to your particular situation I do view your particular story as a total anomaly and way outside the norm. This from someone who has has been rescuing, housing and living with a diverse group of felines for well over 40 years.

Sounds to me as though maybe Gizmo had a psychological problem related to Titi's passing and took out his angst on Sammy. I'm certainly not making light of your particular situation but just feel impelled to put it into the general perspective of animal behavior.

Hope it all eventually worked out well for you and the boys!

SMH at the subtitles...lots of women are like that, and we're supposed to find the cat fight funny, but also laugh at domestic abuse?

This happened 4 years ago...Titi passed away this June and Gizmo this October. It was very strange as Gizmo was the official greeter of all cats we adopted. He was very maternal for a male cat and he and Sammy had a great relationship for 2 yrs. before it started. The vet had no explanation either. I do believe Gizmo lost his will to live when Titi died. They spent 14 yrs. together as best buds. He got sick the day after Titi died. I also hold some blame on the vet...but that is another story.

I have had cats in my life for almost 40 yrs. and this was the only time I've ever encountered a situation like this. My whole point on this thread was that I don't think it's ever a good idea to let something like that go on because it can get bloody. My neighbor is constantly taking her cats to the vet after ending up bloody from fights.
