I knew she wasn't one when I adopted her. I always wanted a lapcat but when you fall in love with a kitty, you can't help but to take her home. It all started when I fed her treats in my lap. I would put a pillow in my lap and she was sit on it when I fed her. Then I transitioned her from treats to dry food so our feeding sessions are longer. But she always left after she was full. Then over the Thanksgiving weekend, she came and just sat on the pillow in my lap! We had a blissful petting session. She has since then continued to sit in my lap pretty much everyday. Then last night to my astonishment, she fell asleep in my lap. I didn't want to get up to ruin the moment.

Ahhh how sweet! It can be fun....but sleeping on a sofa can be hard on the back!

I have to remember my back when I fall asleep in my desk chair with one of our shop cats in my lap.........

What a pretty girl!

I was thinking about this thread last night ... We'd finished dinner and were settling in the living room to read/listen to music. I sat down to arrange the ottoman, quilt, book, etc., and no sooner did I remember that I'd left my tea in the kitchen than BoyKitty jumped into my lap and settled down for a long winter's nap. Grrrr.

Fortunately he has a short memory and forgets in about five minutes that I've unceremoniously dumped him on the floor ...

Isn't it amazing how they always get comfortable on you just before you have to get up to eat or use the bathroom or go to bed? My cats aren't particularly lap-friendly but occasionally the older one will condescend to lie on my legs while I'm stretched out watching TV. And he's awfully good at giving me the reproachful stare
