I tried searching and didn't find a topic on CD about this.
Does anyone use powdered glucosamine and chondroitin for their cats? I have only found powdered glucosamine and chondroitin for horses...so it would obviously need to be scaled back for weight accuracy...if it is even safe to do so. I would rather find a product made specifically for cats. This will be used to aid a stiff shoulder joint rather than using a steroidal anti-inflammatory or NSAID. We are just looking into our options. THANKS!

I use Cosequin for Cats for my arthritic kitty. It has seemed to help a lot. She is very picky - the vet tried to put her on another type but she wouldn't eat it. Cosequin has chicken and tuna flavor added to it. Before starting to use a non-feline formula I would check with your vet or at the very least make sure the proportions of the various ingredients are the same besides adjusting for weight.

Cosequin helps my old kitty, too. Vet put him on it 2 months ago and he's so much more limber since. It comes in capsules that you open and sprinkle over food. He likes it.
I've seen it at all the online pet places, PetRx, 1800PetMed, etc.

my vet recommended the Cosequin too for Bubba. I knew he wouldn't swallow that whole pill and mentioned that, she told me to open the capsule and sprinkle it on the food. I sprinkle on both cats morning "breaktass" canned food, that way I know he got some each morning. It takes 3 days to go through a capsule, but I know he's getting it. And it can't hurt the "bowling ball with fur" either..

I use the cosequin for 2 of mine. IT makes a lot of differance in how the feel and act too. They get theirs sprinkled on their treat at night.... their treat being about 1/2 a teaspoon canned cat food.

We have two cats and we free feed Nutro Indoor Senior formula kibble. Any suggestions how to administer this to ensure our one cat is getting the dosage? BTW, he is not big on soft food...the cat will seriously walk away from it.
