Fingers crossed she reappears in time for her appointment!

Haven't made it yet. I need to have someone go down there with me, and no one has agreed to yet. It may be a little while before she gets down there.

I worry she may have wandered over to a neighbor's house to have her babies. That worries me for a few reasons: 1) I can't feed her that way, 2) I can't socialize the kittens, and 3) kittens don't generally fare well around here. But I wandered all around the yard, calling for her, looking any place I could think of. No sight of her. And she's very vocal, so no sounds of her makes me worry as well.

Truth be told, if she has wandered off there isn't a whole lot you can do except wait and hope she wanders back

It sucks, but it's just the way things are.

Is it possible she may belong to someone, and has made her way back home? When I was really little (5 or so) our female indoors only cat escaped on several occasions (she wanted to be an ouside cat). Once she later turned up with kittens (don't know why my parents didn't get her spayed). She was a sweetheart, lovey, friendly, but when she got outside she became pretty skittish.

What ever happens, good luck... I hope she turns up to go to the vet.

We're leaving tomorrow and we'll be gone until Sunday. The dogs are going to stay with relatives. And the inside cats will be left in here. I'll leave plenty of food outside for the strays. She may have had a home, but pregnant cats around here aren't usually treated all that well, so I assumed she was a stray.

She reappeared today, still pregnant. She didn't move around much, but I think I caught her sleeping.

I left four bowls of food for the 3 days we'll be gone. That should be enough for her and the female feral cat.

Just got back from vacation. She is still here and still pregnant.

Here's a video from last week. It's from a phone, so it's not great quality.

What a sweetheart! She clearly used to have a home. Thanks for taking such good care of her.

Spaying of pregnant cats is not uncommon. It is thought of as population control and a chance to save (and SPAY!) the queen.

We were faced with that same choice 13 years ago. One day after losing our 17-year-old Siamese to breast cancer we found a pregnant Tortie on our condo's pool deck. Pets were not allowed there. The queen was in serious nesting mode, and would give birth 3 weeks later. She did everything she could to charm us into taking her home. That's their instinct.

We did call around and ask about spaying her before the kittens were born. It was an option we had. But ultimately we couldn't do it. We carried her up to our condo in my husband's jacket.

It's 13 years later and we still have one of her litter, who became a beloved friend. The queen's other 4 kittens were taken in by our vet, who found them all homes. We kept them for as long as the queen would nurse and we kept her too.

We felt very fortunate that we were dealing with such a caring vet. Even after an elderly couple brought back the two tiger kittens they had adopted, she found new homes for them.

No one can tell you what to do, but please consider it carefully.
