My thoughts and prayers go out to you. I'm glad you're going camping and can start the healing process.

I'm sorry the vet was a jerk and charged you an extra $20 to be in the room. I've never heard of anything like that. That just seems heartless and cruel.

I'm glad you are starting the healing process....and it is just that. Give yourselves time to grieve,as your guy will always have a piece of your heart. In due time, you may even be able to adopt a new furkid into the family and share another piece and provide a loving home.
Someone over in the dog forum just recently posted the same thing, how their vet charged an extra fee for them for being in the room when their pet was PTS. How heartless and cruel! My vet gave me the room for as long as I wanted and needed, before, during and after and could not have been nicer when we put our Golden down last yr.
Try to find some peace and enjoy your camping trip.

When you're feeling a little less raw, give some thought to putting a special plant where you buried him. It's a lovely way to remember them. You have my sympathies.

I agree 100% with Fivehorses! I have rose bushes on the final resting places of my felines that are now angels. Whenever I look at the roses and enjoy their beauty I treasure memories also of my beloved that is buried at that place......the body that is.

May God bless you during your healing process.
