It isn't fair to consider a cat's hunting behavior as 'vicious'. They are programmed that way. It seems vicious to us, perhaps, but they have no such concept.

Manny gets growly like that when he has a piece of raw meat (or other goody) and the other cats are nearby. He is just telling the others that this is HIS.
