Kind of interesting that the scab was picked off this old post. But, for one to hide their sexual orientation implies shame, connecting this with the negativity the heterosexual world has always provoked on homosexuals. There are many Hollywood celebrities, specifically male ones, that hide their orientation. Combine this with the severe need for role models, and how scarce it is for movie actors to be out of the closet, I can't think of how much of a difference it might have made in the lives of young people growing up if they knew there were other people like themselves. For example, when watching the Brady Bunch, if people knew Robert Reed was in fact gay, and that Vinnie Barbarino, and Arnold Horshak on "Welcome Back Kotter" were gay it could have made a big difference. This is an entire class of people that are invisible. For even older Americans, if they knew actors like Montgomery Clift, Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter, Raymond Burr, Johnnie Mathis, Roddy McDowell, or Cesar Romero were gay, it too could have had a positive impact even earlier.
And, at least in the past, they wouldn't have gotten the work in films and television if it was known they were gay. Self-defeating at one time.
If you're asking about Carrie Fisher she most definitely did die. After a heart attack December 23, 2016 and she passed away on the 27th. Her mother Debbie Reynolds died of a stroke on December 29th.
If you are referring to Kelly Preston, Travolta's wife, she is very much alive but sadly they lost their son Jett in 2009. It was controversial because he was rumored to have autism, had a history of seizures, and it was suggested Travolta's Scientology religion kept him from seeking medical help for him. I'm not sure what finally came out of that scandal other than the loss of their child.
Wasnt the Matt Lauer incident and the Brooke incident the same thing?
And he apologized and personally visited Brooke, A well publicized meeting where he admitted being wrong and asked forgiveness.
Though certainly not a Cruise fan, I really dont know anything he has done wrong. Well,except for his overacting

I don't think anyone is questioning Travolta's or Cruise's right to belong to the Scientology "religion". But there is a difference between accepting the right to belong to a religion and another person having to respect a particular religion. I'm pretty broadminded about religion(s). I don't think there's a "right" religion, but I do think there are some "wrong" religions. I don't remember Travolta pushing Scientology much, but Cruise did. And that affects -- to a degree -- whether I want to plunk down my money to see one of their films.
John Travolta - gay? Say it ain't so...next thing you know, someone will accuse Steve Martin or Tom Cruise of being gay.

Reminds me of when I went to see the film "Deathtrap" starring Christopher Reeve and Michael Caine. In the scene where they deep kiss, some woman in the audience (who apparently was not yet aware they were lovers in the film) screamed out "Say it isn't so!"
I don't get why people are obsessed with calling married men with children gay. Get a life.
