Dont know if any of you recent posters read the title of this thread or not but it obviously says "Who IS Americas most beloved person", not "Who WAS.......".
Reagan is dead, Jesus died (but some say still lives) so they fail to qualify for this thread. YOU may think they qualify as part of this discussion and that is just fine, but go back and put the emphasis on the "IS" in the thread topic and not imagine it says "WAS".

Peace.
True. Is there anyone living today in the US that does not offend someone else.
I could nominate myself---as hated 'for no reason' as anyone. 'What you see is what you get'. I seem to personify evil to some--particularly certain relatives.
How about Diana Gabaldon--author.
There are those who consider her to be 'the spawn of the devil'--most writers are accustomed to such criticism--so ruthless--they just keep writing.
I think some people in this thread are projecting a lot and don't understand what broad appeal really is. Ronald Reagan?!! Diana Gabaldon?!! LOL. No.
Jesus wasn't American and America is not 100% Christian by a long shot.
America's most beloved person is going to be someone not polarizing politically, religiously, etc. Someone with charisma and charm who doesn't offend too many people or rock a lot of boats.

The most beloved person is whoever died last. Just look at Michael Jackson. People called him freak, pedophile, laughed at him. As soon as he died, people were balling their eyes out. The most recent person to die is Elizabeth Taylor so she is the most beloved until someone else dies.
He has my vote but not my brothers....LOL. Haven't read the whole thread but I would say Abraham Lincoln is the most universally admired and loved. He is in my book. I may have already posted this, too. If so, sorry.

If you hadn't heard--a new film is being made about AL--apparently he hunted vampires. This sounds farfetched but who knows.
sigh--I live in 'The South'--certain that there are Lincoln haters here or were.

I would go with Betty White or Tom Hanks.
Diana is absolutely one of the nicest people in the world.
We will never get a consensus-sure of that.
afraid to say this but how about Thomas Jefferson--had a few good ideas at least
