Does the person have to be living? Except for hardcore racists, and a small number of hardcore atheists, most every American at least claims to love Martin Luther King Jr. Rosa Parks I think was liked by some who I know didn't care for MLK Jr. (For whatever reason racists I've known are usually more sympathetic to black women than black men)
Of the living I think Oprah and Billy Graham are probably the most loved. However I don't think I'd say everyone who knows them loves them just that a high number know them and love them. In terms of "most loved by those who have heard of them" I'm not really sure. Maybe someone like Greg Mortenson of "Pennies for Peace", Nancy Brinker of "Susan G. Komen for the Cure", or Sidney Poitier even though he's Bahamian in origin.
