BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KTLA) -- Legendary actor Jackie Cooper died Tuesday at a hospital in Beverly Hills After a "short illness."

The Los Angeles born actor was first nominated for an Oscar when he was 9-years-old for his role in the 1931 film "Skippy."

I first saw him when I was a kid when he played Perry White in Superman, it was later when I found out about his earlier career as a child star
